What is the deal with this site?

I’m a software engineer that recently started to dabble into embedded programming and machine learning.

I realized that we are currently at a time when we are making a breakthrough in machine learning. Not only that we advance current capabilities but we are at a point were we have multiple solutions to run machine learning algorithms directly onto small, cheap and unconnected devices. This enables a ton of possible applications like autonomous vehicles, home surveillance, autonomous robots and many other things in the IoT (internet of things) area.

This is often called “edge AI”. While this is not a fresh idea the thing that changed radically in the last 2 years is that the price of these ML capable devices has dropped significantly. You can now buy chips and mini computers optimized for ML for under $100 and even under $10.

The purpose of this site is to explore, play, test and review most of these devices and share the learning so others can jump into this space much easier.
